The State Museum at Kohima is purely ethnographic in nature. On view are baskets, colourful woven textiles, some decorated with designs made up of cowrie shells, bone, ivory and bead jewellery, headgear, the traditional dao or the all purpose implement, wooden sculpture and death masks.
