Machilipatnam or the erstwhile Masulipatnam was the East India
company's first station on the coromandel coast. Probing further into
history, masulipatnam was founded in the 14th century by a Poloni of trading
Arabs who found their way from the red sea to southern India to the spot of
eastern peninsula. By the 15th century it was ruled by the Garnatic Raja's
and then the control passed in quick succession to a series of Hindu and
Muslim rules.
With such a rich history of foreign conquests,
